Hi FoEC'ers and Friends,
I wish I was writing this email with a positivity associated with a beautiful forecast, a warm, sunny day with a gentle breeze and maybe even spring in the air.
Well, I'm not unfortunately and I am instead opting for the rallying 'war cry' for our planting event this Sunday. We have the plants, the materials are here and the date is locked in; Sunday, June 17th 1-3PM at the escarpment area between the M9 pipeline easement and the Gooseneck Meander area - the easiest access will be from the Old Kodak bridge and turn left at the end of the bridge to make your way over to the planting area. We are planting trees, shrubs, and grasses and our event is sponsored by Melbourne Water, hosted by FoEC of course.
Our forecast is certainly not ideal, though great for the plants, there is a likelihood for showers across the day and only 13 degrees. So please rug up, remember the waterproof gear, sturdy, waterproof boots will be in order and also pack a healthy dose of resilience in your backpack for the day. We will pack an extra thermos and if you've got your own, perhaps pack a thermos of something warming!
As usual, we will have people on the creek (Rob, Ben, and Stephen) from well before 1.00PM so please let us know if you wanted to join earlier in the day to contribute to making the escarpment area a better place for our bird and other fauna.
See you on the creek!
David.
