Inclusive Yoga

Untitled-2

Inclusive yoga classes!

Inclusive yoga is suitable for everyone - seniors, people with physical or intellectual disability, those suffering chronic physical illness or mental health conditions and people who prefer a gentle yoga class.

This soothing practice will assist with joint mobility, strength, balance and general health.

Inclusive yoga welcomes people with a disability and those who may find joining a regular yoga class difficult. It can be a useful compliment to one’s ongoing medical care.

This is a gentle hatha yoga class for people experiencing chronic pain, disability, anxiety and other related health issues. It is a supportive, physical and mindful practice which can be done seated in a chair.

There are also options to participate in postures to assist balance and relaxation, including standing with a chair and laying supine on a mat.

How can ‘inclusive yoga’ help you?

You’ll learn controlled breathing techniques which help to balance the central nervous system and generate a calm and a mindful approach to self. By directing the blood flow with posture and breath, you will oxygenate your cells. Healthy cells promote health to the body-systems, in particular aiding digestion and circulation.

Realise enjoyment while energy flows through your body as you move.

Is this class right for you?

Initially Simone will privately and confidentially discuss any acute or chronic injury or health condition you may have, in order to offer you the safest and most appropriate yoga practice for your current level of fitness and health.

Elements of the class will be general to all participants and there will be some individual attention and instruction, as required.

About the teacher:

Simone Litchfield is a yoga synergy teacher who has been practicing yoga for 28 years and teaching for the last 8 years.

Simone also has a background in contemporary dance and she works with people of all ages and with various levels of physical and intellectual ability.

The benefits of yoga:

Yoga techniques stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system, which reduces the fight/flight response often associated with stress and anxiety.

Yoga strengthens muscles, improves mobility/flexibility, helps to increase bone density and strengthens the immune system.

The yoga synergy method teaches, how to remain calm and generate energy while you challenge your body with gentle movement and posture.
