CLIMATE FORUM WITH MARK BUTLER, SHADOW MINISTER FOR CLIMATE CHANGE AND ENERGY AND GED KEARNEY MP FOR BATMAN

This is an important chance to show how much people in this area care about the climate and reinforce that politicians of all varieties need to take the climate crisis and the climate movement seriously. It’s also a great chance to let them know that sitting on the fence on Adani is not good enough.

Some thoughts about what we want:

A strong Renewable Energy Target, Stop Adani- rule it out now, no more subsidies for fossil fuels, no new coal, A lot of investment in renewables and low carbon technology generally (increase funding for ARENA and CEFC), planning regarding climate change to be budgeted into all ministries activities and Labor to speak up about extreme weather events (like the current drought) connected to climate change.
