NAIDOC Celebrations

Untitled-2

NAIDOC celebrations at Merri Murnong.

Join us 2-3pm, Saturday 13/7.

Free native mint tea.

Connolly Av. South of Murray Road’s Bridge over the Merri.

Last year we celebrated NAIDOC week by starting a “crop” of native millet to begin learning about this important but now rare indigenous food. We also shared some freshly harvested and brewed native mint tea.

This year’s NAIDOC theme is “Voice. Treaty. Truth. Let’s work together for a shared future”.

Treaties are not just pieces of paper but actions towards a just and shared future. Actions at Merri Murnong are often around cultural foods. This year we will experiment with Murnong’s growing conditions.

Come and join us to hear what we learnt so far about native millet, then help us start a companion planting and biochar experiment.

You might also want to learn about our blooming fantastic project.

Free free to bring afternoon snacks to share to go with the tea.
