All Clear - Live your life on purpose - Retreat in Ubud, Bali, 20-26th October, 2019
Q. Have you ever supported someone with cancer?
Maybe you can help me share something that is close to my heart.
🥰
This is for those of you who have a patient, friend, colleague or family member who is either learning to live with, or is recovering from cancer. Or maybe it is you?
🌞 Some of you will have seen me speak about the story of my diagnosis and recovery from Leukaemia back in 2010. I know it rattled our wonderful community nearly as much as it did me! It was hard to find out that one of your own could be diagnosed with something so life threatening as this!! It really was an unexpected turn of events in the most dreadful way.
💞 With incredible support from family, friends and our community, my team of health practitioners, oncology specialists and hematologists, I said yes to medical treatments and collaborative, complementary strategies for survival. With a positive outlook, attention to health practices, gratitude and damn fine luck, I got through the chemotherapy, radiation and bone marrow transplant treatment regime. Gratefully, it was the cure for me and with continued attention and care to recovery, I have learned how to thrive in life ever since. What an incredible journey it has been.
🤷♀️ Getting through the treatment was indeed rugged, but truly, the longer term challenge was working out how to get back into life after an experience like this. Cancer brought to the forefront - what is the point of it all?
✨ While everyone around me was breathing a sigh of relief and going back to life as normal, I was left with much bigger questions about how I was living my life. If I had died, would I have been satisfied that I had lived the life I wanted for myself? I have been fortunate to work in my field of passion, but I really needed to learn how to do things differently.
And learn I have!
🌴 You may have seen I have been running retreats in Bali for burnt out health practitioners. At the last retreat, we realised that this incredibly restorative, facilitated experience would be perfect for people recovering from cancer therapy too, as they really are the reflective processes I have used with myself over this past 9 years in recovery, discovering how to live my life on purpose. It has transformed the way I show up in relationships, business and daily life in the most profound ways.
🍍 I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it since then! Even my dreams have been back in Bali, doing this work with cancer recovery. The creation of this retreat offering is such a potent ‘must do’ in my heart that it has been pouring out of me - I couldn’t have stopped it, even if I had tried!
🤞 So I have set a date and created a webpage to share with people who have been through their treatment and are now facing the challenges of returning to life. I have created a Facebook event for sharing too.
😳 It is also perfect for people who are years down the track, but find themselves returning to old patterns of stress and overwhelm or not really feeling like they are living their life on purpose.
🙋🏻♀️ Is this you? Or perhaps this fits for someone you know?
The EARLY BIRD ends this FRIDAY so I am keen to get the word out now.
🙏🏼 Thank you so much for sharing with anyone you feel this would benefit. I know it can feel weird or hard to make suggestions to someone if you have not been intimately involved in their treatment - but you can simply just share it and say I was thinking of you when this came up and I know the person facilitating. It will be a life-changing, incredible experience. They will be pleased you did for sure.
With gratitude for you, your support and all that is possible in this one precious life.

P.S. Here is what the first person who signed up for the retreat has to say about working with me. Thanks for helping us get the word out and sharing the links.
“It’s not easy to navigate the path through cancer treatment, but we do it because ... what choice do we really have? As someone who is 6+months post-treatment, I’ve found that the hardest part is now – when it’s all over. I have had the privilege of Charmaine in my corner as my naturopath the whole way through my treatment. Sometimes it’s been an ear on the phone, a reminder to seek out the quiet, a timely kick up the backside to face my fears, and the courage to keep holding my own hand as I walk tall ahead. But more importantly, it’s about being someone who inspires me to think bigger about my life based on what she has achieved ‘after cancer’. This retreat is time for me and all the potential future versions of me that I haven’t even met yet.” Jodie, Breast Cancer, 2018
