Stolen Car
Car stolen in McNamara Street, West Preston.
My old 1991 Subaru Liberty GX station wagon was stolen a week ago (last Monday night, August 26) from where it was parked on the street outside 58 McNamara Street. It is usually safely parked in my driveway or garage in Jackson Parade, but, as luck would have it, it was over-nighting with family in McNamara Street.
The accompanying pictures are not of my actual car; they are of one for sale on the web and I have taken the liberty of downloading the photos as I have no photos of my own. My car too is white and only slightly different: the hub caps and the driver’s wing mirror are white, otherwise it is the same.
The registration number is NFT 579. If you see it, please, please let me know on 0402 123 881.
The police have been very helpful and suggest that it may turn up abandoned somewhere when the petrol runs out (the tank was full so that could be some time yet!). I hope so. It has been a great car and I would dearly love to have it back, though I dread what condition it may be in by then.
According to the police, I did everything wrong and it was probably easy to steal, especially being an old car. If you too have an old car or leave it in the street, the following advice from the police may be helpful. Store your vehicle off the street at night in a locked garage, or on a driveway with another vehicle parked behind it. If it has no anti-theft device, install something such as an engine immobiliser, steering wheel lock or alarm.
Good luck anyway, and, again, if you see my dear old Subaru, please let me know.
GD.
