Bread Tag Collection!

Untitled-2

Hi, All.

Newlands Primary School have started plans to host a recycling hub but they've put on hold at the moment.

I would like to offer my house as a drop off point for bread tags.

If you have bread tags to donate now, or once you've got a bit of a collection up, please drop them to 43 Livingstone St Coburg North.

NPS Sustainability captains Douglas and Gabriella need your help! They want everyone to collect bread tags at home. Doesn't matter the size or the colour, we want them all!

Bread tags are made of high impact polystyrene (Type 6 PS Plastic) which is denser than many other types of plastic, making them compact and easy to recycle. Because of their small size they are somewhat annoying for big recyclers, but for small local recyclers with specialist machinery, it’s simple. So much so that they can skip the shredding stage of the recycle process, going straight to melting and extruding the plastic. Also, unlike most other plastic waste, bread tags are usually clean.

Our goal is to raise 3300 tags, which is roughly 1kg, so we are able to send them to be recycled and turned into something useful again. If every family and staff member bring 20 bread tags, we can get to our goal. But please bring more if you have. You can set up a jar at your place and involve neighbours and other members of your family!
