Hello Necchi Community!  We are loving the autumnal colors here in Coburg and doing a little autumn spruce of both houses.  We were excited to be successful in the Community Creative Artist in Residence grant c/o Moreland City Council. We can't wait to work with ceramics artist Kate Hill at Newlands. The residency will be called Earthen Habitations and will be a series of workshops and walks using the Neighbourhood House and the Merri Merri as inspiration. Kate will be working in the foyer and back yard at Newlands from May so come and say hi! The workshops will be in June/July. We are also hosting the Queers Draw This Midsumma Exhibition in the Newlands foyer. This exhibition is a celebration of a year of drawing and creating with inspiration from real life models! This exhibition will be up until the 21st of May, so come and check it out. SPOTLIGHT ON ROOM HIRE We have a range of great activities in our rooms such as Alexander Technique which is a movement, posture, mind & body wellbeing education.  Alexander teacher Cathy Dowden has been teaching workshops and groups at both the Neighborhood Houses since 2019. Locals learn DIY ways to move freely, calm their self, find balanced postures, reverse tension & pain build-up. If you attended our Passata Day please remember to pick up your passata from East Coburg - we still have a few bottles in storage! OPEN GARDEN  You may notice some activity coming up in Cox Reserve behind Newlands... in a few weeks the community garden will be underway! This community garden was initiated by local community and will be play space, grow area and a area to run workshops. Please take care in the park while construction is underway.  We will be hosting a planning and planting session in June and July and will forward an invitation in the coming weeks for you to join in. We would love to know what you would like to grow and eat and help plan and plant it! We are busy working on next semesters program and have a few really exciting events in June such as Ceramics Workshops with Kate, Merri Merri workshops and a smoking ceremony to launch the open garden! Phew!
