Refugee Sponsorship

Untitled-2

Hi, Newlanders.

I am interested in the community refugee sponsorship program and wondered if there was an existing group in the Newlands area that I could join?

Otherwise, I'd be keen to hear from people who would be interested to start a group and share the leadership and administration of the program with me.

Thanks,
Clara.

Vote Mountain Ash

Untitled-2

Hello Good Folk
❤️ Please VOTE Mountain Ash 🌳🌳 Again ... in the FINAL of ABC's Australia's Favourite Tree 🙂 (takes a couple of seconds) https://www.abc.net.au/.../vote-for-your.../101210764...
Now that Mountain Ash is in the nations top 10.
While we love so many of the trees listed - We are asking you to support the Mountain Ash as its forests are Critically Endangered and the source of our drinking water - but are still being logged by our govt. So these forests do need and deserve all the positive attention they can get.
Watch this segment, featuring Prof David Lindenmayer and Wurundjeri Women Stacie Piper and Mandy Nicholson from ABC's Australia's Favourite Tree (starting at 28 minutes) to understand more Australia's Favourite Tree: Episode 1
As you could see in this segment, These living forests are so important for Wurundjeri, and so painful to see them being logged. It was then a privilege for Newlands folk to learn this weekend from extraordinary Wurundjeri leader and Woi Wurrung teacher Mandy Nicholson. She and her grandson are deeply connected with the Mountain Ash. Mandy is featured in this episode showing the importance of the Mountain Ash forest at so many levels. Thank you Mandy for your generous leadership.
If you think you voted before - Thank you!!! - This is a new vote and so we ask you to vote again (Mountain Ash was voted Eucalypt of the Year, and has been voted to the final of ABC's Australia's Favourite Tree) Do follow the link below to support the Mountain Ash in the Final & help protect our precious forest
https://www.abc.net.au/.../vote-for-your.../101210764...
Please do share this with your friends and networks - we only have a couple of days to show the importance of this forest.

Baby Sitting Coburg Area

About me:

Hi, my name is Maddie!

I am 16 and studying at high school and I'm looking for babysitting work.

I love music, art, and science. I am currently studying early entry VCE Legal Studies, biology, physics, music performance, and as extras, I'm learning Mandarin, flute, and piano.

I'm responsible, respectful, and patient but also playful, creative, and enthusiastic about helping people out.

What my sessions would look like:

In a typical babysitting session I would either let your kid(s) play by themselves and just monitor if that's what they wish, or, I have games, crafts, and music that I would be happy to do with the kid(s).

Cost:

I charge $15 per hour, with an additional $3 per extra kid.

Friends of Edgars Creek

Untitled-2

Hi FoEC'ers and Friends,
Spring has nearly formally sprung with the end of August approaching - ask the wattles flowering on the creek and they are saying we are already there!
We will be on-site at the Norfolk Court/Caravan park site from early morning Sunday with the 'official' time of 1-3.00 pm (come to the site via Norfolk Court, North Coburg as we will be planting/gathering at the end of the court - crossing behind the caravan park might be difficult given the amount of recent rain/showers). Let me know if you are planning to come earlier please and we can accommodate you with preparation/set-up roles.
The forecast looks good - we will be dodging rain events by the look of it - with a forecast of cloudy and 15 degrees with essentially no chance of showers!
Looking forward to seeing you on the creek!
Regards,David.
