We have lots of exciting workshops and events coming up this season at NECCHi

Guling and Poorneet Season has well and truly begun here in Naarm, and our programs are in full swing! We've added a few new workshops and programs to our lineup for the season -- see what's happening below!

Out Hear: Sound-Making and Recording Workshops with Dale Gorfinkel

Out Hear provides new opportunities for expression and connection in the community through personalised and tailored music and sound recording programs, especially for people who experience disability and other barriers to access. Out Hear seeks to amplify the vital and diverse voices in the community, offering opportunities to create, record, and publish original audio work.

In these small group workshops at East Coburg Community House, participants will be guided to explore accessible, creative and collective modes of sound making. This may include: meditative quiet and natural sounds, improvisation, ASMR, songs, various instruments, beat-making and electronics, story-telling and podcasts. Activities may also be shaped by the interests of participants. These sessions will also be an opportunity to make new friendships and collaborate with others. No prior experience required.

Ojo de Dios workshop with Lizette

Join artist Lizette Vieyra for a three-week workshop learning how to make Ojo de Dios, and exploring their cultural significance.

Creating your own Ojo de Dios is a spiritual practice. As our hands move to entwine the threads, our minds find refuge in the stillness of the process. Immersing ourselves in an activity that gives us serenity and focus, we are able to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

These workshops will take place over three weeks, with each week introducing more intricate designs and construction methods.

Both adults and children will find lots to enjoy in these workshops!
