Holiday House in Capel Sound

Cute and soooo close to the beach: affordable holiday rental in Capel Sound.

Just five minutes’ walk to the beach is this cute little two-bedroom house in Capel Sound (formerly West Rosebud) on the Mornington Peninsula.

Located in a quiet street, this is a much-loved family home that I’ve been slowly fixing up. It’s been an ongoing project for a couple of years, and is still a little way off being 100% finished (mainly the back yard). However, it’s perfectly usable, comfy and secure as is, and friends who have stayed there love its vibe – and its proximity to the beach, wineries, shops, takeaway food and the hot springs.

So, I’d like to offer it to other friends / Newlanders for use at a discounted rate this summer, while there’s still a few things to be finished off.
Perfect for a couple, or a family with 2-3 kids, and well-behaved dog(s). About an 80-minute drive from Coburg North if you take East Link and Peninsula Link, if traffic is OK.

THE HOUSE

·        Kitchen: brand new, fully equipped with induction cooktop, Bosch dishwasher, microwave and breakfast bar. Cookware, plates, bowls, cutlery, cups, glasses, kettle, toaster, etc – all you need is all there. Some condiments too.

·        Big fridge/freezer

·        Brand new bathroom with quality fittings and a lovely deep bath

·        Main bedroom with king-sized bed, ceiling fan, touch lamps, and luxurious Sheet Society bedlinen.

·        Second bedroom with bunk – a double bed at the base and a single at the top – also with Sheet Society linen

·        Comfy lounge/dining room with ceiling fan, TV, dining table and a portable Dyson cooler / heater / air purifier

·        Wifi

·        A little desk for your laptop, with a keyboard and mouse if you need to do some work (just don’t accidentally take the keyboard and mouse dongle home with you!)

·        Huge back room with comfy chairs, a lounge/sofa bed (if you need to sleep a couple more) and a few daggy board games and puzzles. And a piano (not to be bashed on by hyper or grimy little hands, sorry – only for gentle use, and definitely no drinks on it).

·        Laundry with washing machine (no dryer – there’s a clothesline out the back though) and cleaning stuff (vacuum cleaner, brooms, mops, etc)

·        Well fenced front and back yards

·        Gas BBQ out under the back porch

·        Spare beach towels and basic toiletries.

A COUPLE OF RULES (ok, five)

·        A minimum 4-night stay.

·        ABSOLUTELY no parties. This is a quiet neighbourhood.

·        Dogs: well-behaved family members that aren’t going to bark up the neighbourhood, or get on/chew furniture are permitted by prior arrangement. If you’re bringing your dog to leave it at the house alone all day, then that’s not going to be good for anyone – especially the dogs and the neighbours. Obviously, any furniture or fittings damaged/chewed will have to be paid for. During summer (Dec-Feb) dogs can go to the beach on-leash between 6pm and 10am. The rest of the year is on-leash, any time.

·        All dog poo in front or back yards must be picked up before you leave. 

·        Please don’t bring jet skis. Capel Sound is a quiet beach, let’s keep it that way.

But it really is an absolute bargain, given what else is on offer for what prices are at this time of year. And once the place is 100% finished, it won’t be this cheap again!
