| | Landscapes in Clay Landscapes in Clay is a hand building pottery workshop where we will explore sketching with clay. Bring along a picture or painting or choose from our small library, have a play and explore in three dimensions. We recommend bringing a painting as the painter will have already figured out the composition for you, this will make things easier. During the workshop we will explore composition, colour/tone choice, and surface treatment. We will provide clay, carving tools, paintbrushes and underglazes and we will have the work glazed in clear glaze and fired for you to be picked up from Necchi.

| Say hi to Kat! (she/her)
Hi everyone, I’m Kat, the new Community Projects, Grants and Volunteer Coordinator. I come to NECCHi with a background in environment, community engagement, early years education, administration and gardening. My passions include learning and taking action towards environmental and social justice, biodiversity, ecosystems, food sovereignty and climate resilience. To relax, I love pottering in gardens, watching animals and creatures, crafting, taking very slow walks to discover new things and admiring all the tiny details. I love meeting people, learning their stories, making connections and bonding over shared interests. I’m so thrilled to be part of the NECCHi community and I’m excited to learn and grow together! |

| Meet Lucy! (they/them)
Hey there, I’m Lucy, and I’m excited to have joined the NECCHI team as a part of Brewlands. I’ve lived in Naarm for nearly 15 years since moving from Mparntwe/Alice Springs. Over the years, I’ve built a strong connection to community-led work, focusing on ecological restoration, environmental and social justice, and food security. Environmental and food justice have always been central to my life—whether through coordinating projects like Queermates of Bababi Djinanang in remnant grasslands along the Merri Ck or delivering seasonal cooking workshops as a Shiatsu Practitioner, grounded in Traditional Chinese Medicine. What inspires me most is seeing how the community can lead meaningful change on these issues—whether through the arts, teaching traditional cooking methods, or talking about the stories and history of landscapes and Country.
I have been involved with NECCHI over the years through the wonderful community-led programs and festivals offered, such as the Naarm TLC Choir, the Passata Party, and the Along the Merri Merri project. Having been at NECCHI since late last year, I have seen how Brewlands is about more than just coming down for your favourite brew. I have seen that it is a space where community can come together to learn, have a yarn and share a story or sit in the beautiful Newlands garden. I have seen how NECCHI is special and unique to the neighbourhood. I’ve loved being part of the team so far and am looking forward to hearing how we can grow this space to further nourish and support our community.
When I’m not at NECCHI, I love hiking, exploring the bush, engaging with first-nations and social justice work and working in my vegetable garden. I’m so looking forward to connecting with you all at Brewlands. |
