NAIDOC Celebrations

Untitled-2

NAIDOC celebrations at Merri Murnong.

Join us 2-3pm, Saturday 13/7.

Free native mint tea.

Connolly Av. South of Murray Road’s Bridge over the Merri.

Last year we celebrated NAIDOC week by starting a “crop” of native millet to begin learning about this important but now rare indigenous food. We also shared some freshly harvested and brewed native mint tea.

This year’s NAIDOC theme is “Voice. Treaty. Truth. Let’s work together for a shared future”.

Treaties are not just pieces of paper but actions towards a just and shared future. Actions at Merri Murnong are often around cultural foods. This year we will experiment with Murnong’s growing conditions.

Come and join us to hear what we learnt so far about native millet, then help us start a companion planting and biochar experiment.

You might also want to learn about our blooming fantastic project.

Free free to bring afternoon snacks to share to go with the tea.

Meditation

Untitled-2

Gardening Meditation.

NEXT SESSION: Saturday July 20th.

Gardening Meditation is a deeply restorative practice, which takes place in a market garden on the Merri Creek. In the session we spend time in the field, gently weeding while being guided into a slow, meditative state. This is facilitated partly by myself, and mostly by the field itself, full of life with vegetables, birds, old trees, creek and other soothing sounds. It is an easeful way to connect to the earth and a delightful way to slow down.
Gardening Meditation is a fantastic means of being with strong emotional states that are difficult to be with in everyday life. So many symptoms arise from a need for the soul to be cared for, and these sessions soothe and tend to this level of the being.
Likewise, if you work in a therapeutic capacity with clients who experience emotional challenges, then please consider referring them to these sessions. Or come along yourself to find out more.
